We will seek to develop a CRS lay volunteer program called The Missionaies of the Blind Club throughout the US and Canada by recruiting dedicated lay people from local Adventist churches who are willing to contact the blind who receive our services. Many of our blind people live in areas where there is no representative, or the representative lives a long distance away. So we need to raise up volunteers who are willing to contact the blind and build friendships with them and invite them to their local churches.
We will seek to strengthen the evangelistic ministry of CRS by partnering with conferences in evangelism. Every year thousands of evangelistic meetings take place all over the North American Division. We would like to obtain a list from each conference of meetings taking place in their churches. Then CRS can print and send invitations to the blind we serve in those areas. Once we get a lay visitation program established, perhaps those volunteers could personally invite the blind. We need to start connecting our blind people to these powerful evangelistic meetings.
We will seek to strengthen and personalize the Bible School. We hope to strengthen it by increasing the number of enrollments and to personalize it by talking to the students over the phone as they progress through the courses. This way we can personally answer their questions, pray with them, and develop an intimate relationship with them. When there is a serious spiritual need, we can connect them with the local Adventist pastors and when they graduate we can connect them with the local Adventist churches.
We will assist our representatives by providing training in personal evangelism skills. We want to provide them with resources and ideas they can use in their ministry to the blind. We seek to provide them with ideas for outreach that they can use in their districts. We want to help representatives see themselves not simply as fundraisers, but as missionaries in a mission field. We are here to support, encourage, and partner with them in their local ministries.
